Theatres

The Tivoli Theatre (1928) in Downers Grove is one of the theaters currently run by Classic Cinemas. Downers Grove, Illinois is home to approximately 49,000 people. The first owners of the Tivoli Theatre, Gustov and son George Bunge, had the vision for the theatre building, which also houses a hotel (1927), bowling alley (1944), and several shops. Thank you to the owners Willis and Shirley Johnson and all the volunteers at the Tivoli for a wonderfully detailed tour (held Saturday August 13, 2011).

The Tivoli Theatre / DuPage Theatre connection:

The current owner of the Tivoli Theatre had offered to purchase the DuPage Theatre from the Village of Lomabard in order to make it as profitable to Lombard as the Tivoli is to Downers Grove. Alas, this was not the vision of the Lombard trustees in power at that time.
